Throughout the pandemic, KBHVAC volunteers have continued to answer all calls, including those for COVID-19 positive patients and suspected cases. This unprecedented event has necessitated large-scale purchases of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies so that members can respond safely.

Equally pressing, one of three specially equipped ambulances is nearing 20 years of age and will soon require replacement by law. In order to continue handling approximately 1,000 emergency calls annually, KBHVAC must purchase a new, state-of-the-art ambulance which will cost upwards of $200,000.

“Our members have gone above and beyond to answer calls for help during an extremely challenging time,” says KBHVAC Captain Alexandra Whalen. “This year, your support is more important than ever before.”

KBHVAC’s responses are coordinated with Police, Fire, and Advanced Life Support agencies but, unlike other local departments, it is not a separate taxing district. As a result, despite KBHVAC’s crucial role in the emergency services chain, the organization relies heavily on public support to fund its operations.
