Being a member of the Katonah-Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps means being part of a team of people from all walks of life who are dedicated to providing the highest quality emergency medical care to their community.

KBHVAC is an all volunteer organization consisting of 75 members who respond to our community's emergency medical 911 calls, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our volunteers are trained drivers, crew attendants and NYS Certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).

In order to become a member of KBHVAC, you must be 18 years old and in good health. We also have a Junior Corps for anyone between the ages of 16 and 17. Our members respond directly from their workplace or from home. We request that you receive your employer's approval and arrive at the Corps within 5 minutes of your pager alert.

What Does The Flashing Green Light Mean?

Whenever you see a vehicle with a flashing green light, it signifies that the person in the car is in the process of responding to a call for emergency medical assistance. The light is used as a courtesy light; it asks other vehicles to yield the right-of-way.

Please keep in mind that although the green light does not require you to pull to the side of the road, the ambulance corps member could be responding to a life and death emergency involving one of your loved ones.
